What's different about a Fort Worth wedding?

Photographing a Fort Worth wedding

Cowtown light

Fort Worth has a western look that no other Toast market has. Brick streets in the Stockyards. Old storefronts and open plazas in Sundance Square. Wide ranch skies out toward Aledo. That brick throws warm light back at you in the late afternoon, and it flatters everyone. The catch is heat. In summer, mid-afternoon portraits outside are rough on a groom in a three-piece suit. We sometimes bring tents or umbrellas for shade. Winter sunsets come early, so plan portraits before the ceremony or right after it.

Venues in Fort Worth and Tarrant County

Hotel Drover and River Ranch Stockyards put you in the middle of the Stockyards. The Fort Worth Botanic Garden gives you formal gardens and open lawns. Artspace 111 is a gallery space with art on every wall. The Ashton Depot is a restored rail depot. We've also photographed at The 4 Eleven, BRIK Venue, The Bowden in Keller, Bowie House, The Worthington Renaissance and Stoney Ridge Villa.

The Cultural District, the Trinity and the Stockyards

The Botanic Garden sits in the Cultural District, west of downtown. Its rose garden works for the ceremony and the portraits. The Near Southside, around Magnolia Avenue and South Main, brings murals and old brick to portraits at The 4 Eleven and BRIK Venue. The Trinity River runs along the north and west edges of downtown. A stop on the Trinity Trails adds river and skyline portraits on the way to the reception. In the Stockyards, Exchange Avenue gives you brick, timber and cattle pens a short walk from the venue.

Getting across town

Many Fort Worth wedding days cross I-30 or I-35W. Getting ready in a Sundance Square hotel and marrying in the Stockyards is a short hop. Southlake or Aledo takes longer. If your guests are flying in, DFW Airport sits between the two downtowns, and Highway 183 traffic is worth planning around on a Saturday. Southlake, Westlake, Burleson, Grapevine, North Richland Hills, Saginaw, Azle and Aledo are all covered. Travel is on us inside that 30-mile ring around downtown.

Engagement photos around Fort Worth

The Stockyards are the obvious pick. The Fort Worth Herd walks down Exchange Avenue, and some couples time a frame with the longhorns. Crowds build fast on weekends. The Fort Worth Water Gardens downtown have concrete terraces and falling water. The Japanese Garden inside the Botanic Garden is lovely; ask the garden about its photo permit rules first. Magnolia Avenue has murals and patios. The Trinity Trails give you river and skyline with almost nobody around.

What does a Fort Worth wedding photographer cost?

Four hours with one lead shooter costs $1,395 in Fort Worth. The other two packages are on the Fort Worth rates page.

Is $4,500 a lot for a wedding photographer?

It's more than our biggest Fort Worth package. Two photographers for the full day start at $3,995 here. Compare all three on the Fort Worth rates page.

Who is a good wedding photographer in Fort Worth?

Look for someone who has shot your venue and can show you a full gallery, not just highlights. Victor Escandon heads Toast photography in Fort Worth. Norman, Jennifer and Jonathan are on his crew.

How long should our coverage be?

Six hours covers getting ready through the first dances at most Fort Worth venues. Four hours is enough for a Stockyards ceremony and dinner. Two locations far apart need the full day.

How soon will we see our photos?

Inside 30 days. They arrive in a web gallery you can share, and printing rights are yours. Your image count depends on hours and guests.

Where can we take engagement pictures in Fort Worth?

The Stockyards, the Water Gardens, Magnolia Avenue and the Trinity Trails are all good. For the Japanese Garden, ask about its photo permit rules before you book it.

Do you travel outside Fort Worth?

Yes. Southlake, Westlake, Burleson, Grapevine, North Richland Hills, Saginaw, Azle and Aledo are all regular. No travel charge applies within 30 miles of downtown Fort Worth.
